Absolutely not!!! At WoodchuckSato, we pride ourselves on being the complete opposite of a dropshipping operation. And we hate it! We are the maker, so we know that our products only offer to ourselves our brand! I checked other dropshipping store selling tabis, their selling price is not as our cost (this shocked me). And I don't know how is it possible?! Our commitment is to authenticity, quality, and craftsmanship, not quick profits or mass-manufactured goods. Woodchucksato.com is our only official store. We do not sell on any other platform. Be cautious of third-party sellers claiming otherwise.
There have been misconceptions that our products are similar to those found on platforms like AliExpress. Let us be clear: any resemblance is superficial at best. Our designs, materials, and photographs are exclusive to WoodchuckSato. Our studio produces shoes solely for our brand, and we have no affiliations with AliExpress. If some choose to believe otherwise, they are welcome to search elsewhere; however, they won’t find our unique products there.
Our company is based in Singapore after relocating from the UK due to high costs and VAT. We maintain a warehouse in China/Hong Kong to offer reasonable shipping rates and inclusive tax benefits for our customers. This allows us to provide free shipping without compromising the integrity of our products. Every pair of shoes we offer is handcrafted in our own studio, adhering to our strict quality standards. We use only real leather — sheep or cow — and the purest rubber we can source.
No plastic. No fakes. We committed to using the finest materials, not synthetics, which means we can’t cater to vegan customers with these products. Just natural materials that age beautifully and stand the test of time.
Cutting the leather by hand. At WoodChuck Sato, we don’t rely on mass production or automated cutting machines. Instead, every shoe begins with a pair of skilled hands, a sharp blade, and full attention to detail. This slow, careful method reflects our core philosophy: real materials, skilled hands, and shoes that last.
One of our team members is working side-by-side in the stitching room — where soft leather pieces slowly become real shoes. At WoodChuckSato, we’re proud to be a human-powered workshop.
No conveyor belts. No factory lines. Just skilled artisans shaping, hammering, and assembling every detail with intention. Every face you see here has touched hundreds of shoes — not in minutes, but in hours of quiet, practiced precision. It’s not the fastest way, but it’s the right way.
In this moment, the shoe begins to take its final shape — wrapped and secured over a hand-carved last. This process, called lasting, is a defining step in shoemaking. It requires steady hands, patience, and an eye for detail. At WoodChuck Sato, we do it the traditional way — by hand, one pair at a time. You can see the leather stretched perfectly over green shoe lasts in the background, each waiting to become someone’s favorite pair.
Once our shoes are carefully lasted by hand, they’re placed in a drying chamber to naturally set and hold their shape. This stage ensures the leather forms smoothly around the last and stays perfectly contoured — no creases, no collapses.
The warmth helps lock in the structure, while the artisan double-checks each pair for symmetry and smoothness. This isn’t fast work — it’s patient work. And it’s essential to making shoes that not only look elegant but also hold their form for years.
After hours of shaping, stitching, and assembling, every pair of shoes is given a final hand polish — the last step before it leaves our workshop. In this photo, our artisan is carefully polishing the leather to bring out its natural depth and shine. This isn’t just about looks — it’s about sealing the surface, enhancing durability, and respecting the material’s quality.
Unlike dropshipping, we focus on longevity and customer satisfaction. We don’t seek "fast-money" or high volume as our production is not high because we are purely handmade; instead, we strive for the best quality and service. Your experience and feedback drive us to continuously improve. We have tried to expand production and hope to deliver to customers as quickly as possible after they place an order, but it is still limited due to financial issues. 😭
Before any pair of shoes is boxed, it goes through a careful, hands-on quality check. Every seam, edge, sole, and stitch is reviewed to make sure it meets our standards — not just visually, but by feel.
