Careguide

Caring for Your Tabis

Our Tabis are crafted from carefully selected materials, each with its own unique characteristics. With proper care, they are designed to maintain their beauty and comfort over time. To keep them looking their best, give them a day's rest between wears so the leather can breathe and recover its shape.

Everyday care

Keep your shoes clean and dry after each wear. Gently remove dust or surface dirt with a soft, dry cloth.

Avoid excessive exposure to water, rain, direct heat and prolonged sunlight, as these may affect the leather, colour or shape of the shoes. If your shoes become wet, gently blot away excess moisture and allow them to dry naturally at room temperature.

Looking after the leather

Different leather finishes require different care. Always choose products suitable for your shoes' specific material and test them on a small, hidden area before use. For detailed instructions, please click on our material-specific care guides below.

Soles & wear

Soles and heel tips will naturally show signs of wear over time, especially on rough or uneven surfaces.

Leather Soles

For styles with genuine leather soles, we include a complimentary protective sole sticker to help reduce everyday wear.

We recommend keeping the sticker in place and checking it regularly. When it becomes worn or begins to peel, it should be replaced.

Rubber Soles

Rubber soles are a practical option for regular wear and do not require an additional protective sticker.

As with all footwear, some natural wear may occur over time.

For longer-lasting protection, you can visit a professional cobbler to have a more durable sole protector fitted, such as a thin protective rubber half sole. This can help protect the original leather sole and extend its lifespan.

Lining & insoles

For detailed care instructions specific to each lining and insole material, please refer to our Linings & Insoles Care Guide.

Natural leather characteristics

As leather is a natural material, subtle variations in grain, texture and finish may occur from pair to pair.

Over time, the leather will naturally soften, crease and develop its own character. These changes are part of the natural ageing process and make each pair uniquely yours.
